The Limestone PDA Kit meets the frequent requests for an industrial handheld computer. The unique platform approach drives innovation, offers enhanced performance of customer-specific PDAs for a variety of different applications, and enables a significant reduction in the time to market. In contrast to any available consumer device, the Limestone PDA Kit was specifically developed to meet industrial requirements. Components were selected from embedded product lines to guarantee the longest possible product life-time. The Limestone PDA Design Kit serves as a standardized yet versatile platform to easily build a custom specific PDA, HMI, MMI, or handheld/portable computer.

Limestone PDA Baseboard with Marvell XScale® PXA320 (806MHz)
The compact Limestone PDA Baseboard contains the high performance XScale® PXA320 processor that runs at 806 MHz. In addition, it has specific on board features that are required for a PDA, such as a battery charging circuitry, fuel gauge, SD/MMC socket and standard USB Micro AB connector for USB host or device.
Custom Extension Board
A rich board-to-board extension connector offers the possibility to add a custom-specific extension board on top of the Limestone PDA baseboard. This board can contain a variety of different interfaces, ranging from TTL LCD, WLAN, bluetooth, GSM, GPRS, GPS, camera, RFID, barcode scanner to even specific sensors that measure acceleration or orientation. The complete 3D CAD data of the Limestone PDA board is also available as download to facilitate the design of a custom extension board. Operating Systems
The Limestone PDA Baseboard comes with a pre-installed and fully customizable Windows CE 5.0/6.0 BSP that is among the most advanced ones available on the market. Besides the standard Windows CE functionality, it contains a large number of additional drivers for the most common interfaces that are easily customizable by registery settings to adapt to the custom specific hardware. Other operating systems like Embedded Linux or Google Android are available through 3rd parties.
Based on Proven Colibri Technology
Toradex’ Colibri computer modules are being used by more than 1'000 companies worldwide. The Limestone PDA Baseboard is based on the latest Colibri PXA320 module. This guarantees a very stable and well tested core hardware and software. Updates of the Colibri’s operating system will also be automatically available for the Limestone PDA Platform.
Dedicated Housing
A dedicated front and back cover can be designed to meet customer specific requirements, from a slick to a ruggedized design, for in- or outdoor usage.

Target Applications
The Limestone PDA Design Kit offers a powerful, battery operated handheld computer that can be used for supply chain management, for voice and text communication, as human machine interface, as measurement or programming device, for educational purposes, for navigation and surveying tasks, or even as technical aid.
Matching Batteries
The Limestone PDA Baseboard can handle almost any single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Pol rechargeable battery. Please use only batteries equipped with a Protection Circuit Module (PCM). The battery is charged at a maximum current of 1.45 amps. Toradex recommends to use the following Li-Pol battery:

This battery, combined with a dedicated PCM circuit, cable and mating connector can be directly ordered through the Tordax webshop.
