Apalis TK1 - USB 3 Super Speed Device Mode

Hi,

On the datasheet for the Apalis TK1 it suggests USB 3.0 Super Speed support for the OTG (device mode) connection to the host. Is this correct?

If so could you please suggest a method of testing this?

Thank you,

Shaun

On the datasheet for the Apalis TK1 it suggests USB 3.0 Super Speed support for the OTG (device mode) connection to the host.

Where exactly did you find any such suggestion being written down in the data sheet?

Is this correct?

No, the Tegra K1 SoC only supports USB Super Speed 3.0 operation in host mode exclusively meaning on Apalis TK1 OTG1 as host as well as H4.

If so could you please suggest a method of testing this?

Thank you for your quick response.

The information comes from:
Apalis TK1 Datasheet
29-Sep-2016 Rev. 1.2 V1.1A
Page 11

Agreed that it does not really explicitly deny device operation at Super Speed 3.0. We will improve the data sheet in such a way to clearly state that Super Speed 3.0 operation is only ever possible in host mode.

Hello,

in this page: https://www.toradex.com/computer-on-modules/apalis-arm-family/nvidia-tegra-k1,
in modules feature, connectivity:
we can see, usb 3 host x1 , otg x1 superspeed

so can you tells us what is the right version (

we need usb 3 otg , before to buy , 5000 som / years

regards,

Nicolas

As mentioned before the Nvidia TK1 SoC only does this in host mode on the OTG port but not in device mode. In device mode it only supports USB 2.0 High Speed.

If you are looking for a truly USB 3.0 SuperSpeed OTG capable module then I would suggest looking at our upcoming Apalis iMX8QuadMax which should feature this. However keep in mind that this module is still in development and the i.MX 8QuadMax SoC won’t be launched until later this year.
