Looks like we have an issue with an mcp251x driver.
As a workaround you can remove jumper X11/33 to prevent mcp251x driver to load.

setting defargs to clk_ignore_unused also solves another freeze that occurs on USB events for the same reason.
To reproduce the problem plug an USB device on IMX7s/2.8b1 and Linux freezes (in imx_get_sensor_data() ).

Yes that makes sense because any driver load triggers a reprobe of the thermal driver, which causes the freeze. Both issues will be gone with the next release (2.8b2).
