Attaching a Multilink FX (pemicro) probe to the Colibri iMX7D to work with the M4 core

Hi,
has anybody experiance using the M4 core embedded in the iMX7D, main OS is WEC2013. How can I attach the Multilink FX probe (www.pemicro.com) to the Colibri iMX7D (Pins ??).

Thanks a lot for helping.

With best regards

Gerhard

Dear @Gerhard

The Multilink FX is a JTAG adapter, which connects’ to a devices JTAG/SWD port.

On the Colibri iMX7D, the JTAG pins are implemented as 2x3 test pads on the bottom side of the module.

  • On the Colibri Evaluation Board there are pogo pins connected to the test pads, so the JTAG port is available on X13 with a standard 20-pin ARM pinout.
  • On the Aster carrier board there are pogo pins connected to the test pads, so the JTAG port is available on X6 with a standard 9-pin ARM pinout

Hi Andy,
thanks a lot. I opened the design of my board again, just to see if there is a chance to add this feature, and yea, I only have to move two lines and a via to add this !!!
I followed the Astra-board design and implement the pogo pin-block and the 10 pin probe connector. I also have space to add a ESD protection chip!!

Hope I can start playing around with the M4 core using a Pemicro-probe and MCUexpresso once a day.

With best regards

Gerhard

Dear @Gerhard

I’m glad to hear you were able to add the debug infrastructure to your carrier board. Being able to step through the code certainly helps to advance faster with your project.
