iMX8 Toradex Easy Installer crash

For some reason when connecting to the DVI port and booting the screen flashes some lines but stays black. Then when using RDP to connect to the board and start the easy installer, the easy installer software is shown but immediately after that we get an error and RDP closes. It says: An internal error has occurred. So we’re blocked and there is absolutely no way we can install anything with the easy installer.

What exact hardware (module and carrier board) and software versions of things are you talking about? Have you tried the recently released version 2.0b3 as well?

Not working with either, 2.0b2 or 2.0b3. The hardware is the Apalis Evaluation Board rev 1.1A with Apalis iMX8 QuadMax 4GB.

The same happens, as soon as the RDP connection is made the easy installer crashes. After that the board must be rebooted in order to be able to make a connection with RDP. When connecting to DVI nothing comes on the screen (with jumpers set for DVI).

But what exact SKU and hardware revision/version of the Apalis iMX8? What exact DVI screen did you try? Have you tried any consumer HDMI screen with DVI-D to HDMI adapter cable? Could you please also post the full serial console output as a textual log file?

I managed to get the connection to the screen working by using HDMI with a DVI adapter. Then I installed the Console Image Demo. All goes well but when booting the kernel panics.

Yes, unfortunately that release at times had trouble with the buggy PCIe switch as found on the Apalis Evaluation Board. Either you try a later nightly release (e.g. enabling the CI feed from within the Toradex Easy Installer), disabling the PCIe switch by pulling the GPIO7 jumper or passing pci=nomsi on the kernel command line.
