Ums 0 mmc 0 not working on U-Boot 2018.03-toradex_imx_v2018.03_4.14.98_2.3.0

Hello,

when we first receive new SoMs from Toradex, we usually install the Linux Console Demo through Toradex Easy Installer to get a working system and known partition layout. Then we’re using u-boot to mount the MMC for deploying our own BOOTFS and ROOTFS (built using Yocto) to the SoM.

I just received some new SoMs and the new u-boot that comes with the Easy Installer Linux demo seems to break our workflow. Following the command ums 0 mmc 0, the eMMC doesn’t show up as flash drive to the host PC, but instead the SoM reboots :frowning:

The attached log files show the difference, any idea what’s wrong here?

Hi @m.sauer

Thanks for writing to the Toradex Community!

Could you provide the serial numbers of new SoMs you received?

Thanks and best regards,
Jaski

I the meantime, I reset the modules and installed https://docs.toradex.com/106403-apalis-imx8-linux-console-image-beta-tezi.tar (3.0b3 | 2020-01-01 | 100.94 MB) via SD card. MMC mount is working on both modules with the U-Boot contained in this image.

From the boot logs:

Model: Toradex Apalis iMX8 QuadMax 4GB Wi-Fi / BT IT V1.0B, Serial# 06548486

and

Model: Toradex Apalis iMX8 QuadMax 4GB Wi-Fi / BT IT V1.0B, Serial# 06543199

PS: Is there a way to get this information from the running system using a shell command?

Thanks for the information. It looks like a wrong version of Toradex Version was installed on this module

Do you mean the serial number?

Hi @m.sauer

The purpose of the Toradex Easy Installer is to flash an image of your Choice to the SoM. UMS is not needed for this functionality.

Please a look on our developer Webpage about Toradex Easy Installer to get Information about how you can install the images on SoM. There is also an auto-install feature which makes installation of an image without any interaction possible.

Thanks and best regards,
Jaski

Yes. Preferrably, serial number, SoM version (V1.0B) and if possible, the type of carrier board it is currently running on (Ixora, Apalis Eval or costum).

I’m not sure if there’s an EEPROM or similar device on your carrier boards for identification?

What is “Toradex Version”? Is this something that is installed during production or at the costumer’s site?

The current Toradex versions are listed here.
