New Release:
Toradex BSP Layers and Reference Images for Yocto Project 5.4.0 Quarterly Release
Dienstag, 5. Oktober 2021
We are pleased to announce the Toradex BSP Layers and Reference Images for Yocto Project 5.4.0 quarterly release.
Please read the 5.3.0 release notes for previous updates that also apply to this release.
Updates and Highlights
- Updated to new NXP Patch Release L5.4.70_2.3.3
Toradex provides both downstream and mainline-based BSPs for our System on Modules (SoMs). For the NXP® i.MX SoMs, we base our downstream BSPs on the NXP® releases. On our BSP 5.4.0, we have updated the kernel base from L5.4.70_2.3.2 to L5.4.70_2.3.3. - Added serial number to the SoM hostname
Prior to this update, the SoM hostname was the same for all System on Modules with the same hardware configuration. After this update, the hostname includes the unique serial number of the SoM. This enables a unique Linux hostname for each board and it is useful, for example, for connecting over SSH.
As an example, for a Verdin iMX8M Mini with a serial number01234567
, the hostname wasverdin-imx8mm
before this update. From this release on, it will beverdin-imx8mm-01234567
. - Bug fixes
Notable bug fixes and new features include:
- Limit the Wi-Fi Module SDIO Clock to 25MHz to improve the communication reliability
- Add device tree for Apalis iMX8 on Ixora V1.2
- Kernel panic on resuming by GPIO wakeup after freeze/suspend on i.MX 8 and i.MX 8X
- Limit the Wi-Fi Module SDIO Clock to 25MHz to improve the communication reliability
Hardware Support
- Added support for the upcoming Verdin iMX8M Plus Mezzanine
The Verdin iMX8M Plus Mezzanine will be an accessory compatible with the Verdin Development Board.
This BSP release adds support for the native LVDS and the second MIPI CSI-2 interfaces available on the Verdin iMX8M Plus SoM. - Added support for upcoming Colibri iMX6ULL 1GB
Toradex is developing a new version of Colibri iMX6ULL, with 1GB RAM and 4GB flash. This is the first release that supports this System on Module. - Volume products: Apalis iMX6, Apalis TK1, Colibri iMX6, Colibri iMX6ULL 512MB, Colibri iMX7
This release is intended to be used in production for these modules. - Sample products: Apalis iMX8, Apalis iMX8X, Colibri iMX8X, Verdin iMX8M Mini, Verdin iMX8M Plus
Due to the hardware status of the sample products, this release is intended for development.
For Verdin, only the second generation of Verdin products is supported.
Quarterly releases are production releases. We run a set of tests to validate them. Learn more about our release types in our Embedded Linux Support Strategy.
