Windows Embedded Compact

Microsoft® Windows® Embedded Compact, früher bekannt als Windows CE, ist ein offenes, skalierbares, 32-bit Betriebssystem (OS), welches echtzeitfähig und äusserst stabil ist, sowie erweiterte Windows Technologien zur Verfügung stellt.

Windows Embedded Compact ermöglicht es, eine weite Palette von innovativen Geräten mit kleinem Footprint zu entwickeln. Ein typisches Windows Embedded Compact basierendes Gerät ist meist für eine spezifische Anwendung konzipiert, kann einfach mit Netzwerken (z.B. Internet) verbunden werden und benötigt nur ein kleines OS mit deterministischem Verhalten und Interrupt Handling. Es braucht kein Display (head-less), kann aber auch Displays mit niedriger bis hoher Auflösung betreiben.

Beispiele sind Unternehmenslösungen wie zum Beispiel Industriesteuerungen, Kommunikationshubs, Point-of-Sale Terminals, aber auch Consumer-Produkte wie Kameras, Internetgeräte und interaktive Fernsehgeräte.

Board Support Package (BSP)

Das Toradex Board Support Package für Windows Embedded Compact ist eines der am weitesten entwickelten, auf dem Markt erhältlichen BSPs. Neben der Standard Windows Embedded Compact Funktionalität beinhaltet es eine Vielzahl von zusätzlichen Treibern, als auch optimierte Versionen von Standard-Treibern.

Der Toradex Bootloader und das BSP wurden so entwickelt, dass sie überaus konfigurierbar sind. Dies befreit den Anwendungsentwickler von der Last des Erstellens eines Images. Stattdessen können die benötigten Veränderungen mithilfe von Registry Einstellungen und Hinzufügen von Dateien zum on-board Flash File System getätigt werden.

Das BSP ist für Colibri Kunden hier erhältlich.

Kunden, die eine beliebige Anzahl Supportstunden bestellen, erhalten den Workspace für Microsoft’s Platform Builder. Dieser erlaubt dem Kunden, das genau gleiche Windows Embedded Compact Image zu erstellen, welches Toradex standardmässig bereitstellt.

Win CE Image Compressor Reduce the size of the Windows Embedded Compact Image to about 50%. This leaves more flash space for user applications or the flash file system 10

C Libraries und Code Beispiele

Die folgenden Libraries und Code Beispiele werden als einsatzbereite Software Projekte für Visual Studio 2008 zur Verfügung gestellt.
