We are pleased to announce the 5.3.0 release of the Toradex Easy Installer for our computer on modules.

This release is a major update from 2.0b7 to 5.3.0, where we bring the Toradex Easy Installer to the same base BSP as our other embedded Linux offerings, the BSP Layers and Reference Images for Yocto Project and Torizon.

Updates and Highlights

• Based on version 5.3.0 of our BSP Layers
  The user experience remains the same. Our motivation for the upgrade is to keep our embedded Linux offerings aligned and up-to-date.

Hardware Support

• Support for the Verdin iMX8M Plus V1.0B
  The Verdin iMX8M Plus is a recent release. You may get a module that does not come with Easy Installer pre-installed. Follow our documentation on how to load Toradex Easy Installer to start using it.
• Sample products: Apalis iMX8, Apalis iMX8X, Colibri iMX8X, Verdin iMX8M Plus V1.0B, Verdin iMX8M Mini V1.1A, Dahlia V1.1A, Verdin Development Board V1.1A, Verdin DSI to HDMI Adapter V1.1A and Verdin DSI to LVDS Adapter V1.1A
  The second generation of Verdin products is fully supported by Toradex Easy Installer. Verdin iMX8M Mini V1.1A may come with Easy Installer 2.0bX pre-installed and we recommend using the latest release, version 5.3.0. You can upgrade to the newer version using the pre-installed one without having to go through recovery mode.
• Volume products: Apalis iMX6, Apalis TK1, Colibri iMX6, Colibri iMX6ULL and Colibri iMX7
  Computer on Modules that are in volume production according to our Product Change Notification (PCN) Policy will still come with older versions of Easy Installer.
  We recommend that you only upgrade to the latest release in production programming if it is required: that is if you are using Torizon.
  Otherwise, you can continue using the pre-installed version and only test version 5.3.0 during development.
• Legacy support for Apalis iMX8X V1.1A and older, Colibri iMX8X V1.0B
  Those hardware versions are samples that have been superseded. Please migrate to newer hardware versions as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Easy Installer 5.3.0 works with limited functionality: you can load it into the RAM, as explained on loading Toradex Easy Installer, but you cannot flash Easy Installer into the SoM flash memory.
• Ended support for Apalis T30 and Verdin iMX8M Mini V1.0x
  Apalis T30 support has been limited to BSP 2.8 and is therefore not available on BSP 5.x.y. If you need to use Easy Installer on Apalis T30, please stick to the latest release, 2.0b7.
  Verdin iMX8M Mini V1.0x is sample hardware that became unsupported by our BSP as of 5.2.0. Please migrate to the second generation of Verdin products as soon as possible. Meanwhile, use Easy Installer 2.0b7.
