Toradex and Embedded Labworks collaborate their partnership to foster the domestic market for embedded systems.
Starting this October, Sergio Prado, Trainer and Technical Director, Embedded Labworks, will use a Toradex Colibri iMX6DL 512MB computer on module in conjunction with a Viola Carrier Board in his training sessions on Embedded Linux and Linux Device Drivers, in Brazil.
The Toradex Brasil and Embedded Labworks teams, also created an expansion board to make the training even more interesting. This board is connected directly to the pin bus of Viola (also compatible with Iris) and has several useful resources for learning, including:
- Switches and LEDs connected to digital I/O
- Buzzer connected to a PWM pin
- Trimpot and LDR connected to analog inputs
- An accelerometer attached to the I2C bus
- A GPIO extender on the SPI bus, with its output of I/O connected to a 7-segment display
- 2 RS232 available on the board
This expansion card will help explore the various hardware interfaces through the use of Embedded Linux, which is more fun and intuitive.
In addition, Toradex in partnership with Embedded Labworks, just launched a new initiative wherein Embedded Labworks will adopt Toradex’s platform in a few select training sessions on Interfacing with the hardware in Embedded Linux.
Toradex and Embedded Labworks will conduct a total of 4 training sessions sponsored by Toradex, over the next few weeks. The target audience will include developers already working with microcontrollers, who might be unsure of moving to a solution with Embedded Linux. The training will mainly involve the discussion about the issues of access to peripherals via Embedded Linux. The participant will take home a Viola Carrier Board, Colibri VF50 128MB computer on module along with the expansion board (the course price includes these products). With this joint venture, the companies hope to encourage further development of embedded systems in Brazil.
