High-Performance Machine Learning

The integrated neural network processing unit (NPU) was designed from the ground up to execute deep learning inference, and to outperform CPU- and GPU-based solutions in the same power range by several times. Toradex provides integration with popular machine learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow.

Seamless Camera Integration

Toradex closely partners with leading providers of embedded camera modules to offer you a selection of easy-to-integrate camera solutions, reducing time-to-market and risk.

Ready for Hard Real-Time

The heterogeneous multicore architecture allows the offloading of critical hard real-time tasks to the Cortex-M7 processors for extremely low latency. Toradex provides tooling and FreeRTOS to simplify development. You can also use the asymmetric multicore architecture for a connected low-power mode or to increase security. The Cortex-M7, with a clock speed of 800 MHz, is a fast and capable microcontroller.

High-Performance, Pre-certified Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Simplify your design with pre-certified wireless options — from the module to the antennas — to make end-device certification processes more predictable while cutting costs. The latest 802.11ac standard and support for multiantenna setups contribute to a great end-user experience out-of-the-box. These are paired with Bluetooth 5 support to offer high performance and compatibility with the latest Bluetooth devices.

64-bit performance

The NXP i.MX 8M Plus SoC comes with up to four powerful, 64-bit Armv8 Cortex-A53 cores, making them a cost-effective choice for running Linux with a modern graphical user interface while providing sufficient power reserves for typical industrial and medical applications.

The Toradex Verdin Family of Computer Modules

The Verdin iMX8M Plus is pin-compatible with the other CoMs in the Verdin family. This allows existing Verdin-based products to easily scale and migrate to the new Verdin iMX8M Plus. All of Toradex’s Verdin carrier boards are compatible with the Verdin iMX8M Plus. Extensive product documentation, developer support, service partners and third-party carrier boards are the pillars of our strong Verdin ecosystem.

Operating Systems

Toradex offers free support and maintenance for Embedded Linux and FreeRTOS on the NXP i.MX 8M Plus processor based Verdin iMX8M Plus SoMs. This allows system designers to focus on the application only, instead of focusing also on the OS and low-level device drivers. Other OS' such as Android and QNX are supported by our partners.

Torizon Linux Platform

Torizon is a ready-to-use Linux-based software platform ideal for use in areas like industry and medicine, where reliability is critical. It is a developer-friendly ecosystem that simplifies the process of developing and maintaining embedded software.

Reference Images for Yocto Project

Toradex develops and maintains a Yocto Project-compatible, production-quality embedded Linux BSP in-house.

FreeRTOS

FreeRTOS is supported directly by Toradex. It is a real-time OS that runs on the Cortex-M4 cores in parallel to the main OS.

Android

Android is supported by our service partner Kynetics. An Evaluation will be provided free-of-charge as a binary installer directly on the Toradex Easy Installer feeds and in source-code.

QNX

QNX is a microkernel-based real-time operating system, primarily targeting embedded systems requiring high safety and security. For information about the current state of QNX, get in touch with our Sales Team.

Carrier Boards

The carrier board provides the necessary signal and power levels to the CoM. It also houses the application-specific connectivity and multimedia interfaces, such as USB, Ethernet, UART and HDMI.
